چکیده
یکی از مهم‌ترین راهبردهای دولت‏ها برای تغییر تصورات و ادراکات جهانی از خود، اتکا به دیپلماسی ورزشی است. بااین‏حال، برخی از تلاش‏ها در این حوزه نه در چارچوب دیپلماسی ورزشی، بلکه در قالب ورزش‏شویی قرار می‏گیرد. ورزش‏شویی به استفاده از ورزش برای بهبود وجهه بین‌المللی در جهت کاهش فشارهای سیاسی و حقوق بشری گفته می‏شود. با توجه به این تمایز، پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی کارآمدی راهبرد ورزش‏گرایانه‏ی عربستان سعودی، به این پرسش می‏پردازد که: استراتژی ورزشی عربستان سعودی یک راهبرد دیپلماتیک پایدار است یا ابزاری مقطعی برای تغییر وجهه‏ی بین‏المللی محسوب می‏شود؟ این مطالعه ضمن بررسی رویکرد ورزشی عربستان، از طریق مقایسه‏ی تطبیقی آن با نمونه‌های تاریخی مشابه، کارآمدی این راهبرد را در سیاست خارجی این کشور مورد تحلیل می‏کند. یافته‌های پژوهش بر اساس رویکرد توصیفی- تحلیلی و روش مطالعه‏ی اسنادی نشان می‌دهد کنش‏های عربستان در ورزش، هرچند در کوتاه‌مدت به بهبود تعاملات دیپلماتیک و تقویت جایگاه این کشور در نهادهای ورزشی بین‌المللی انجامیده است، اما ماهیت ورزش‏شویی این رویکرد، کارآمدی آن را با تردید مواجه ساخته است.
