Objective: This study aim to investigate the effectiveness of emotion oriented marital therapy on couple's attachment styles. Research Design and Methods: present study is quasi-experimental pre-test post-test control group. The sample consisted of 50 subjects (25 couples) who were selected through the sampling and were randomly replaced in the experimental (12 couples) and control (13 pairs) groups. The measurement instrument was Collins and Reid attachment style questionnaire and GHQ. The experimental groups received 9 couple therapy sessions. The collected data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. Results: The comparison of pre-test and post-test control represents a significant increase in scores on secure attachment and significant reduction in insecure attachment styles – ambivalence avoidance in experimental groups(p<0.01) Conclusion: Findings from this study indicate the usefulness of emotion-focused couple therapy is to improve attachment couples.
